Frequently asked questions
These answers describe this local browser-based converter. It is not a server-side conversion API.
Are my images uploaded to imgi.io?
No. This tool is designed to process selected images in the browser. The page reads your files locally, draws them to Canvas, and exports new JPG files for download.
Which formats can be converted to JPG?
The first version supports browser-readable PNG, WebP, BMP, SVG, GIF first frames, and JPG/JPEG. It does not promise PSD, RAW, HEIC, or TIFF support.
Why do I need a background color?
JPG cannot store transparency. If your image has transparent pixels, the tool fills those areas with the background color before exporting the JPG.
Does animated GIF stay animated?
No. This local browser version converts only the first frame of an animated GIF.
Why limit conversion to 20 files and 5 MB each?
Local browser conversion uses device memory and CPU. The limits keep the tool fast and reliable on common phones and laptops.
Can I download every file at once?
Yes. After conversion, Download all creates a ZIP file in your browser with all converted results.
