Common questions about cropping images online.
How is the crop tool different from the resize tool?
Cropping removes parts of the image to change its composition or aspect ratio, while resizing scales the entire image to new dimensions. Use crop when you want to cut out unwanted areas — use resize when you want to change the overall size without losing any content.
Does cropping reduce image quality?
No — cropping itself does not re-encode or compress the image. This tool takes the exact pixels from the selected region and outputs them at full original quality. Only the dimensions change, not the quality.
What happens if I rotate and then flip the image?
You can combine rotation and flip freely. The transforms stack in order: rotation is applied first, then horizontal/vertical flip. The crop selection always maps to the visible result — what you see on screen is exactly what you get in the download. You can also fine-tune the rotation with the free angle slider (0–360°) for precise adjustments.
Can I crop to an exact pixel size?
Yes. Use the "Crop dimensions" inputs in the control panel to enter exact width and height values in pixels. The crop area will snap to those dimensions while maintaining your chosen aspect ratio if one is selected. Platform presets also auto-fill recommended pixel sizes — just click a preset card and the dimensions are set for you.
Which image formats are supported?
The tool accepts any image format your browser can display: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, SVG, GIF (first frame), and BMP. The output keeps the original format — a JPG input produces a JPG output, PNG stays PNG, and so on.
